Die Hiroshima-Veranstaltung beginnt am Hiroshima-Tag (Jahrestag des Atombombenabwurfes auf Hiroshima), Freitag, 6. August 2010 um 17.00 Uhr auf dem Wiener Stephansplatz und wird um ca. 20.30 Uhr mit einem Laternenmarsch vom Stephansplatz zum Teich vor der Karlskirche abgeschlossen. Im Rahmen der Aktion werden wieder Grußadressen von prominenten Persönlichkeiten veröffentlicht. VertreterInnen von Friedensgruppen sprechen zum Thema Atomwaffen, Ernst Toman (Friedensinitiative Donaustadt) singt Friedenslieder.

Namhafte Vertreter aus dem internationalen NGO Sektor, sowie für ihr Engagement mehrfach ausgezeichnete leitende Ärzte und Professoren aus Österreich, Deutschland und Uganda werden im AKH Wien einen Tag lang von Ihren Erfahrungen berichten und die Anwesenden zu reger Diskussion einladen sowie Wege zur eigenen Initiative eröffnen.

IPPNW (International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War) is a non-partisan global federation of medical organizations dedicated to research, education, and advocacy relevant to the prevention of nuclear war. To this end, IPPNW seeks to prevent all wars, to promote non-violent conflict resolution, and to minimize the effects of war and preparations for war on health, development, and the environment.

While the abolition of nuclear weapons is IPPNW's highest priority, IPPNW recognizes that militarism and war rob both rich and poor societies of resources to protect and promote health.
